Class two……..We learned how to draw from life by observing carefully and measuring our object using ours pencils as a guide.
Then we learned about one point perspective :
The kids practiced by drawing squares placed above and below the horizon line, then making up our own landscape using the principles that we learned. 🙂
It was a packed but very fun class!
The first excercise in my kids’ beginner’s drawing Class at the Newark Arts Alliance….We talked about how to “see” differently. Instead of drawing what you think a flower should look like, we turned the image upside down and focused on line and shape and negative space. The kids did such a good job! And we had a lot of fun 🙂
The finished painting! This was so fun to do,…I broke from my comfort zone a bit and got a little loose with the paint – in a totally controlled way 😉 (One of these days I’ll tackle a whole painting in a wet, loose style…..)
I’m very happy with how this one turned out, and also happy to announce that this is now available on Zazzle.com as a card and an 8″x 10″ print
Check out this fantastic blog by Charlie O’Shields called Doodlewash.……..he is spreading the word to one and all to play and be creative whether you think you are “good enough” or not!
He found my blog then he asked me to do a guest post. I was honored to be a part of this wonderful project to encourage creativity.
Here I am with my painting at the reception for the Philadelphia Watercolor Society 114th International Exhibition of Works on Paper. I am extremely pleased and honored to have become a signature member with the acceptance into this show! It was a great afternoon, and the show boasts some beautiful and amazing pieces. Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with me. And I finally got to meet Carmella Tulisewski in person 🙂

I had the good fortune to meet a fellow artist the other day, Nanci Hersh. A friend of mine invited me to go with her to Nanci’s open house, and I am very glad that I did. Her work is beautiful and we had a very inspiring conversation. She asked me to participate in her blog project, Artist as Collector, where she asks artists to choose a work by a fellow artist that they love or are inspired by and write about it. Very cool idea. Here is what I contributed. It’s a ceramic bowl made by my friend Carole Fox. Enjoy!
