inJust chose the best pose/reference photo for the next mudra painting……..This one is based off the gesture Cincihna, or Understanding. It is a single handed gesture, with the thumb and the forefinger coming together as if grasping a fine object, such as a grain of truth. I took a bit of artistic license by adding the second hand.
I’m very excited for this one 🙂

Class two……..We learned how to draw from life by observing carefully and measuring our object using ours pencils as a guide.
Then we learned about one point perspective :
The kids practiced by drawing squares placed above and below the horizon line, then making up our own landscape using the principles that we learned. 🙂
It was a packed but very fun class!

inThe first excercise in my kids’ beginner’s drawing Class at the Newark Arts Alliance….We talked about how to “see” differently. Instead of drawing what you think a flower should look like, we turned the image upside down and focused on line and shape and negative space. The kids did such a good job! And we had a lot of fun 🙂

The finished painting! This was so fun to do,…I broke from my comfort zone a bit and got a little loose with the paint – in a totally controlled way 😉 (One of these days I’ll tackle a whole painting in a wet, loose style…..)
I’m very happy with how this one turned out, and also happy to announce that this is now available on Zazzle.com as a card and an 8″x 10″ print

Thanks to all who came out to celebrate with me. And I finally got to meet Carmella Tulisewski in person 🙂
